The Khamsa Collection
Treasures from PalestineTHE COLLECTION
The Khamsa Collection brings a special selection of high quality, hand-made, decorative and wearable handicrafts from Palestine to the US and international markets.
We work with individuals, womens' co-ops, refugee groups and other community based organizations in the West Bank and Gaza. Our goals are to encourage the preservation of this unique heritage and cultural history and to provide sustainable financial support to the families living under the difficult circumstances of occupation, allowing them the dignity of earning a living rather than relying on charity.
These artisans create embroidered textiles, clothing and accessories, hand-blown glass, hand-carved olive wood and other hand made items. Many of the techniques and traditions have been handed down over generations from parent to child.

THE KHAMSA
The Khamsa, which means five in Arabic, is also known as the Hand of Fatima. It is a palm or hand shaped amulet popular throughout the Middle East, North Africa and the Mediterranean region. The Khamsa, which is often incorporated into jewelry and home decorations, represents blessings, good fortune, power and strength and is used to deflect the evil eye.
By choosing the image of the Khamsa our hope is that both the creator and the purchaser of these special treasures will receive not only blessing and good fortune, but above all Peace and Prosperity.
